Kong
Blood of a Dove/A Hint of Rennit Innit
Kong, like the big ape, are big, angry and bloody difficult to deal with. They delight in making it as hard as possible for you to like them. Their jagged, screeching guitar lines are at times akin to listening to Goro run his may nails down a black board.
Blood of a Dove’ is like a chav after a bottle of chap cider, its central riff pummels the brain, taunting you to enjoy the completely crippling rhythm.
A Hint of Rennit Innit’ is even more of a headache. It doesn’t seem to have any real formula, as if it was designed soley to disorientate the listener. It turns the brain to sludge with its constant barrage.
Kong sound like a mixture Primus without the funk, QOTSA at their least radio friendly and In Utero era Nirvana minus the melodies. They’re a hard band to love but my god they’re worth it.
